Customized Scheduling Solutions with Course Planner 360

Our team tackled a complex university course scheduling challenge by developing an innovative solution to streamline and optimize course assignments. The existing manual process led to inefficiencies and scheduling conflicts, impacting faculty and student satisfaction. We first conducted a comprehensive analysis of the university's scheduling needs and constraints, including instructor availability, classroom resources, and student course preferences. Utilizing advanced optimization algorithms and data-driven techniques, we created a customized scheduling model that considered over 50 variables, balancing all constraints effectively. Our solution incorporated real-time adjustments and automated conflict resolution, which significantly improved the scheduling process. The implementation of Course Planner 360 led to more efficient and fair course assignments, enhancing overall operational efficiency and satisfaction for both students and faculty.

Solving Persistent Flooding Issues in Smelter Operations
Our client in the mining sector struggled with uncontrolled flooding of ore material into the smelter for over two decades, causing inefficiencies and compromising smelter integrity. To address this, we analyzed the client's processes using engineering first principles and developed indirect indicators for crucial factors like density and viscosity due to the lack of direct measurements. By applying advanced multivariate analysis, we identified a significant shift in bulk density as the root cause, linked to air entrapment and an open-loop feeder control system. We recommended implementing a closed-loop control system, redesigning the bin for better air escape, and adding sensors for real-time monitoring. These measures successfully reduced flooding incidents, improved process efficiency, and enhanced operational stability.
